The Nashville Black Chamber of Commerce is the membership of choice for African-American businesses and business professionals in the Nashville Metropolitan Area. Founded in 1998, the Chamber is designed so that business owners are able to take their businesses to new heights by connecting with the right networks, staying abreast of industry trends and tools, creating sustainable jobs, and advocating for business-friendly economic changes.
Rosetta Miller Perry, publisher of the Tennessee Tribune and Contempora Magazine, founded the Nashville Black Chamber of Commerce. The organization was established as a 501 (c)3 not for profit organization. The mission of the organization at the time was to economically empower and sustain African American businesses through entrepreneurship and capitalistic activities.
In 2003, the Chamber was re-chartered as a 501(c)4 organization. This re-chartering allows the Chamber to function as a Civic Association with members who support its mission and goals.
Today, Nashville’s business community is bold, innovative and knows that by working together we all have a better shot at success. Today the Chamber is comprised of 250+ members including corporations, small to medium businesses, nonprofit organizations and individuals.
